Djokovic Cruises to US Open Final with Win over Shelton

Novak Djokovic cruised to the US Open final with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win over American Ben Shelton on Friday night.
The top-seeded Djokovic, who is seeking a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title, was in complete control from start to finish against the 24-year-old Shelton, who was playing in his first Grand Slam semifinal.
Djokovic broke Shelton’s serve four times and never faced a break point himself. He also won 80% of his first serve points and 70% of his second serve points.
Djokovic will face the winner of the other semifinal between Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud in the final.
The final will be Djokovic’s 36th Grand Slam final, the most by any male player in history. He is also the first player to reach the final of all four Grand Slams in the same year since Rafael Nadal in 2010.
Djokovic is seeking his fourth US Open title and his first since 2018. A win would also tie him with Nadal for the most Grand Slam titles in men’s tennis history.
